maximum throughputs when sophisticated CPU-based image processing
functions are performed while scanning. Compression and scale-to-gray
is performed in hardware on the fly with no performance penalty.
HiSCAN flies through image enhancement functions with its specialized
high speed image processing circuitry.

HiSCAN was
designed with major scanner manufacturers for use with future
products. Our goal is to support the worst types of paper documents,
to eliminate documents that are too dark in some areas and too
light in others.
The scanner
interface is fully software controlled and can be configured
to work with almost any scanner on the market. Only one simple
interface cable is needed to connect any supported scanner.
